How Cool War Seems

Writing by Atreu Cell on Monday, 21 of August , 2006 at 7:35 pm

How cool war seems,
When we’re foolish and young,
Big shiny things,
The tanks and the guns.

If only we knew,
Of the blood that is lost,
Of the families subdued,
Of the souls turned to frost.

So show them my friend,
No matter how young,
Do it to help them,
Show them it’s wrong.

Warrior

Writing by Atreu Cell on Thursday, 10 of August , 2006 at 5:24 pm

You held on so strong,
To all those things that you loved,
You refused to give in,
Even when all you saw was blood.

The agony wouldn’t stop you,
Even though you burned with pain,
No one came to save you,
For it was you who were the brave.

Against all and everything,
Your heart alive like fire,
Your rage it did become you,
But eventually you had to tire.

And as your body slowed,
No mercy was shown at all,
The blows were swift and crushing,
Their voices shrill and coarse.

But for a moment you dreamed that someone,
To whom you could have called,
Some divine Angel saviour,
Rescued you from it all.

On the softest wings she took you,
Far above the clouds,
And at last you would know joy,
Never again would you frown.

Your wounds were all but healed,
Your soul no longer torn,
The pain had all but left you,
And you could live your life reborn.

Free of all the heartache,
Free of all the pain,
No more lonely nights,
Putting on the bravest face.

But then you were the champion,
No Angel would heed your call,
And so as you looked up in vain,
The final blow did fall.

The Past Long Forgotten…

Writing by Atreu Cell on Monday, 6 of March , 2006 at 8:12 am

The Angel Child tried to fight,
with broken wings in vain,
They wouldn’t let it live its life,
purity drove them insane.

Don’t promise anything they said,
you’ll fail that much is sure.
Don’t try at all dear child they said,
for all you know is false.

Your dreams are nothing but emptiness,
your heart bitter and cold.
Your fears are real not in your head,
don’t deny them life at all.

So live as a shadow they say,
the light always behind.
In the darkness live they say,
for there your path you’ll find.

There’s no point in believing,
in any hopes at all.
There’s no point in deceiving,
yourself that you won’t fall.

So hush dear child close your eyes,
there’s nothing more to see.
Don’t bother or even dare to cry,
this is reality.

So the wind it blew so vacant,
and the sky turned to red.
No one knew what they said,
to the child heaven sent.

Alone, And That Isn’t Wrong (My Original Version)

Writing by Atreu Cell on Friday, 24 of February , 2006 at 10:54 am

So I look out the window,
and I feel the moonlight on my face,
I’ve been here before child,
but never with such easy grace.

It’s as if I know where I belong now,
no more searching for something beyond,
the light’s in the sky, out of reach,
and for once, I accept that’s where it belongs.

Not everyone gets to be an astronaut,
not every fool gets to fly a plane,
and you know, I’m happy for it to be like that,
and for my nights to be quiet, once again.

The memory is still there,
I’m pretty sure; it’ll never really fade,
in the middle of the night, hushed little whispers,
wondering if everyone else thinks I’m insane.

It used to be so much fun,
my innocent talk across the globe,
but like everything the end came,
but I was the only one who seemed to know.

Not everyone gets to be a warrior,
not every fool gets to be rich,
and you know, I’m happy for it to be like that,
and I promise I won’t complain or snitch. (Read more…)
