PETA attacks Cooking Mama for ‘Killing Animals’

Cooking Mama

Recently eMagi covered how PETA successfully managed to get Sega to pull down their advert for the music rhythm game Samba De Amigo on the Nintendo Wii. Riding upon their latest success to get videogame developers to change, PETA has now set their sights on Cooking Mama, available on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii.

Why is such a game catered to the younger demo graph and having no violent content, being aimed at PETA? Well here is a quote from the organisation:

Why is PETA picking on poor Mama? Because the games are so heavy on dishes made from dead animals that the only things missing are the blood and the slaughterhouse. So in the name of accuracy and honesty, PETA decided to introduce a little of both…

We wish that all cooking games would allow to prepare more vegetarian dishes instead of just slicing up animal flesh over and over - so on our site we encourage players to contact Majesco to ask for an all vegetarian-recipe Cooking Mama game.

Not content with just a statement, PETA has even developed a Flash game to create viral awareness of this issue called “Mama Kills Animals” and actually has a few stages of gameplay from plucking the feathers off a turkey, removing internal organs and chopping off the head. Nice.

If you want to have a go on PETA’s version of “Mama Kills Animals” then go to PETA’s website and have a go. Do you think the actual game itself is guilty of “killing animals” as PETA states?

what a bunch of loosers, even mario kill the tombas and the turtles and A LOT OF THINGS. if you want to look for violence, or satanic things you will find it everywhere, you dont need to lookfor it, look at your right (right now) i am 99% that you have something violent at your right, i would like you to tell me a game that you dont have to do something to hurt your opponents, i dont know the exactly name but i think is “boost a move” or something like that, is a dancing game. so you can have some time to dance for your own and win you have to send and energy ball your opponent. i cannot send energy balls but for the size and speep of that energy ball. if a human get hit by that i think its going to DIE. just to finish i would like to tell you that i am not going to do something violent, i am going to be laugling about this site.

thanks again eduardo flores l. san jose, costa rica.
