Great news for the fans who have collected the single DVDs thus far for these good but under-rated titles. After ADV went under, they had to release a lot of their franchises and thus Funimation stepped up and snapped them up. However there is a catch.
Red Garden, Welcome to the NHK and Pumpkin Scissors were all previously released on single volume DVDs bar the final volume, just as the collapse of ADV happened leaving many fans of the series stranded for the final conclusion. Now though with Funimation at the helm, the series will only be complete by buying the Box Set for each series.
This was just announced in the USA by Anime on DVD, however we are expecting the same deal to fall through for Europe and the UK. ADV has shipped five of the six planned DVDs for Red Garden so if you want the final DVD you need to buy Funimation’s Red Garden Complete Collection Part 2, of which is listed for US $49.98 (£28.70).
The same plan will happen for Welcome to the NHK series, where the final part of the six volume release will be in their Welcome to the NHK Season 1 Part 2 box set, listed at US $59.98 (£34.40). Pumpkin Scissors will be complete as well, however it will come in two box sets retailing for $59.98 (£34.40)
