Microsoft announced yesterday that, due to ’supply train issues’, the Collector’s Edition of Fable II will have a number of features removed. The Collectors Edition will be loosing the collectors box, a set of 5 ‘fate’ cards and the Hobbe figure (an enemy that will appear in the game). But it will still come with the ‘Making of’ DVD and bonus ‘in-game’ content.
While this may be a hit to some eager fans, Microsoft have tried to mend things a little by giving people the chance to download a limited edition soundtrack featuring a selection of music from the original Fable, along with a few tracks from Fable 2. Microsoft have also stated that the American copy will now be $10 cheaper, but haven’t said how prices will change in other regions, as they may vary.
I don’t often go for special editions of a game, but I was looking forward to this one. But you still get an extra dungeon, a rare weapon and a set of bonus armour (a fantasy version of Halo’s Spartan Armour, complete with energy sword). These will of course require a connection to Xbox live to download.
Fable II is currently set for a release date of October 21st for America and October 24th for Europe.

That’s a shame. It seems more and more that companies aren’t delivering on promises they’ve made with products. All too often I see release dates being pushed back repeatedly, CEs getting gimped to heck, etc. I’m wondering if the price of CEs really correlates to the content. In some cases, sure, but if Fable II is anything to go by, I don’t think it’d be worth buying one as it stands.
That said, gawd I really want to play this game. I really enjoyed the first one. Someone give me an Xbox360 already!

Trouble is in most cases, all the extra stuff, be it games,movies or music, doesn’t cost the manufacturer anything extra at all. It’s lying around in the offices left over from promo’s etc. Ordering a few 1000 extra is nothing. So yeah it’s easy money to them.
But to cut them is a strange move. I guess it’s case of someone cocked up and so not to loose money or buyers, MS had to do this.
Didn’t bother with the first game as I’m not a massive fan of this type of game, but might check this out if the reviews are good enough
