Yes, it was announced at Amecon this year that Ayacon will be returning in 2009! Big news indeed for fans of this convention. I have never been myself so don’t know the differences between that, Amecon and ALcon however have been assured that it was great fun when it did run alternatively annually between Amecon itself. No more news has been released as far as I am aware about Ayacon so hope to hear more details as soon as it hits.

Well Alcon pretty much sucks, Amecon was good but has since gone slightly stale and Ayacon is really where its at. Its a great convention and really well run. The general census between long time con-goers is that its the best news they’ve heard in ages.

Amecon was good fun, was my first there and I wrote a diary report on my experience. ALcon is however still very new and small but I had a great time there as I mainly spent my time socialising and having fun. Granted you can do that anyway in a pub or so but enjoyed the relaxed environment. Wonder if this years ALcon will improve though as it needs to in certain areas…
As for Ayacon I’ve never been but have heard many great things so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out…

However in Ayacon 2005, they did something naughty (were airing fanbsubs) so got a slap on the wrist and I assume they lost all support for it from the UK anime industry. In the 3 years since though it seems they have patched things up and they are ready to roll on once more!
