The cult PS2 videogame by the now broken up Clover Studios (Viewtiful Joe) formally owned by Capcom has finally granted the fans wish - For the visually stunning and highly rated Okami to be ported over to the Nintendo Wii! Fans can expect the title to be released in the second quarter of 2008 with baited breath.
For those who have yet to witness or indeed play this game, it is shaped very much in another classic title on the Nintendo Wii - Zelda. An action RPG at heart this game has many parallels with the green tunic Hero and in many cases does an extremely good job at it. Below is a video preview which is taken from the PS2 just as a sample.
In the game you use the Celestial Brush to paint on the screen, creating special effects like turning night into day, causing a gust of wind or even cutting down enemies. On the PS2 version this was achieved by using the analogue stick but this time the brush will be mapped to the Wii Remote itself, perfectly mimicking your own strokes like holding a brush. I just hope that the conversion goes smoothly and indeed many more people will get to appreciate a very under-rated title.
The Nintendo Wii needs more quality titles beyond mini-games and this one will fit the bill nicely.
