Looks like Namco Bandai cannot make up their mind about the status for this cult classic videogame. First it was announced as multi-platform then the PS3 version got knocked off, which then followed with the Wii version being debunked due to controller issues. Upon release on the XBOX360 it was claimed that it was then an exclusive XBOX360 title, even with an “Only on XBOX360″ tag and now its all multi-platform again. What gives?
Due to the Nintendo Wii’s popularity and its control scheme many thought the franchise would be ideally suited to the petite console, Namco Bandai thought otherwise and struggled to make it work, hence cutting the development out. The PS3 version appeared to be cut due to technical issues as well as sluggish sales of the console itself. Due to the recent pricecuts however sales have picked up in Sony’s favour which might have swung the deal. Also with the PlaystationNetwork delivering videogames online much like Xbox Live, it becomes another possible avenue.
Either way its great news for Katamari fans, lets just hope Namco Bandai can do the franchise justice!
