The Anime League Convention takes place tomorrow spanning 3 days and two nights in Leicester as part of quite a busy schedule to those that attend many Expo’s and Conventions through the year. Sadly I had to miss out on Amecon hence no report status here on eMagi, however I will be attending this one. A much smaller event than Amecon in terms of numbers but I hope that the events and atmosphere itself will be very positive.
For those who are not too sure what are the differences between an animé expo and convention the general crux of it is that expo’s tend to be more dealer based, selling merchandise while having some events to draw in the public. It is more aimed at the casual market to make it more accessible to the public without alienating them. Conventions are more catered to the fans with many more events and things to do in the day while still having dealers around, they are not the focal point.
Alcon will be having videogame tournaments (hope we can create a SFII Turbo one!), regular anime screenings, cosplays a-plenty, an Animated Music Video disco, J-Rock Party, Pub Quiz, Cosplay Blind Date, Alcon Idol and much more.
Plenty of events lined up and I plan to have a video wrapping up the whole experience too at the end. Look forward to our report when I return late on the 9th!
