UDON artwork thus far on SFIITHD Remix!

Can Capcom titles become any longer? Street Fighter II Turbo High Definition Remix will be making its way to XBOX Live and PlayStation Network hopefully sometime this year. For those who are not in the know, this is a graphical remix of the seminal Street Fighter II Turbo videogame. The old engine exists so gameplay should remain untouched, all the old voices and possibly music too will remain truthful to the original. The graphics however will be massively improved but not the animation. Don’t expect Street Fighter III levels of smoothness in animation because UDON and Capcom want to keep this version as faithful as possible.
There have been many gripes about the artwork and what features people wanted from the game but everyone must remember that UDON are working on a very strict budget and the game itself will remain as original as possible. Its not a total reworking of the game nor is it a full blown title to buy from the shops - It will only be available as a digital download for a small fee. Things like 16:9 Widescreen support won’t be included but custom tracks might just make the grade.

Also there has been no sprites of Chun-Li just yet bar this one… Of which many think it looks like she has been covered in a certain substance and smelling it…
What do you think? the reaction has been quite vocal so they might be re-doing it along with the Guile sprite. Capcom will stop releasing any more sprites though until they can show us actual screenshots of the game which is great news.
The above image is a sketch of Sagat’s ending, of which all of them will be re-done in this remix and really so far so good. UDON in my opinion have done really well considering the restraints put upon them and I really cannot wait to play this game, online enabled and everything. For all those haters out there moaning about the small details, just remember that Capcom are doing this for the fans and we should be thankful that they’re keeping the engine and as many things as original as possible… To preserve the Street Fighter II legacy that we all know and love.
