Bad news I’m afraid. Sony has announced that they will not be cutting the price of the European PlayStation 3 console but instead offer free games and accessories.
In addition, there is no word whether the 80-gigabyte version will be available. So what do you get with the so-called ‘Starter Pack’? Well, the console is still the standard 60GB. But what you get is Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm, plus an extra wireless (but without the vibrating) controller.
And as for the price, all this can be yours for only £425. That’s the same price as it is right now, without the free stuff… Sony claims that the extra £115 worth of items justified the need of this Starter Pack.
So no price reduction or the 80-gigabyte version, unlike those American gamers who have both… Thanks Sony.

That’s complete crap Sony!! The cost to you for the controllers and games is naff all compaired to what we pay and well this is a completely empty gesture. It’s now £250 equivelent in pounds. That is a complete ‘king joke!!
Yet again as with the psp, you are screwing with us with all you got. If I had a pair I’d sell my PS3 and never touch you again…..but I’m weak and want your DECENT games.

Apparently, Sony are having a clearout sale on the 60GB model. Once this particular version of the PlayStation 3 is sold out (in America at least), there will be no more… Only the 80GB will be available and interestly, without the Emotion Engine built-in.
And to make matter worst, the price differences between the US Dollar and British Pounds means you can buy both the 60GB and the 80GB PS3 for the same amount of money as the ‘valued pack’ PS3… So we are paying more for a lesser console.
