Coming to a screen near you – Formula One in High Definition

British Grand Prix

Thanks to the success of McLaren racing driver Lewis Hamilton, Formula One is now popular with the public and this weekend only, Vue cinema around the UK will be broadcasting the British Grand Prix in High Definition.

If you can’t make it to Silverstone then the best alternative is to get down to your local big screen to catch some exciting motor racing action in surround sound with ultra high-resolution images.

Even though the price may seem steep - £15 per seat – Vue will throw in a copy of the official race programme plus popcorn and a drink! There are over 7,000 places available at their multiplexes nationwide.

The live race will be shown free of advertisements, which currently interrupts ITV’s coverage. It’s great that HD in Formula One has finally arrived and it’s amazing that a sporting event is shown on the big screen and it all thanks to Britain’s Lewis Hamilton.

I’m a graphic designer working for a major newspaper in the UK *It’s The Daily Telegraph* I am a big fan of motor racing and have attending many Formula One races. Love all kinds of movies, be it drama, action or thriller. I absolutely adore Elisha Cuthbert a.k.a. Kim Bauer from 24 and I am a big fan of Apple products.

I’m suprised it’s not gone HD on TV. It really needs it. But £15! Sky’s pay per view bombed so bad so I doubt this will be any different, HD or not.

But on such a huge screen and massive sound it will be a fantastic experiance and at least Vue are trying so a lot of credit has to go to them. After all they would ahve paid a great deal for the rights to show this in the UK. I assume it’s going worldwide with various “winning bids” to show it.

But this has got to come to TV, and for free, or at least a very small fee.
