It seems Microsoft has secured a nice deal between RockStar to put all episodic downloadable content only on the XBOX360. How did Microsoft manage to secure such a deal? Easy. Throw $50 MILLION into Rockstar’s hands for the full rights.
Could that be the reason for the delays in the game? I know Microsoft have been pretty aggressive in trying to make the XBOX360 the number 1 platform to have and by securing exclusive rights for such content is seen as one way. Microsoft knows that Grand Theft Auto IV will be a massive game and that by gaining any sort of exclusivity gives them the advantage over their rivals - Sony.
Even if we agree or not that this is the best way to do business, it has happened. Now it lies with Rockstar to produce the goods as Microsoft hope to grab a much larger piece of the videogame pie.

I’m sure we all remember the speach from last years E3 where Peter Moore proudly showed off his “tatoo” showing the GTA emblem stating exclusive downloadable content. Well, many just assumed that it would be exclusive content for the 360, but also different content for the PS3. Not many would take the comment as read and for downloads to be for only the 360, despite the knowledge of how MS works and how if it wants something, it just buys it. This is a huge, huge deal and one which when the game get closer to the release date, MS will not fail to let us know about it.
As walking said it may not be to some peoples liking, but it topple Sony and it’s consoles, you got to fight and fight hard. Playstation is so imbedded into our minds, that it’s hard to dislodge it. A crippling high price, and taking the one thing Sony had above all others, it’s games, this is about the only way you can sway the masses to the 360. Personnally, I thnk the best way to sway PS owners is to give them a 360 controller, cos the PS3 one is the reason I hardly play on my PS3 having got used to a 360 one first. Sorry a bit off topic there.
This news is also another sign that Sony just compete with MS’s LIVE. Even HOME will have a hard time as it’s just that, the Home end of the PS3. It’s still not about downloadable content for games.

Man that sux. Feels like Sony are just holding out with only their name. But I can’t blame them for losing the rights to GTA, M$ are determined fcukers with enough cash to make a difference.
Personally I’m sitting the war out and waiting for the console prices to fall down. Worth the wait because in that time one will know whats worth buying and whats not. Buying both is out of the question for the moment.
