Since the launch of the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II, it has been quite amusing to read some articles available online that some X-Plorer guitar controllers have been malfunctioning. In addition, owning these wacky peripherals and accessories for your ‘entertainment needs’ are increasingly becoming a cause of stress and strain in relationships…
How did it all go pear shape with the Xbox 360 version of this popular rhythm based game? The PlayStation 2 version didn’t suffer any technical difficulties (according to this writer’s knowledge) and yet the Xbox 360 version does. These include an unresponsive whammy bar and sometimes the occasional crash.
RedOctane, the developers behind Guitar Hero II, have isolated the issue regarding the X-Plorer controller and have advice gamers to exchange it for a better and more importantly, a working model.
It was later discovered that there was nothing wrong with the guitars themselves and it was in fact, a problem with the anti-cheat protection software. Gaming publisher Activision have now readdress the software issue with a downloadable patch available on Xbox Live.
But this hasn’t solved all the problems. Apparently, some gamers are now complaining that this new patch has made it ever worse… The whammy bar has been fixed according to this new download but some users are experiencing that dreaded red ‘ring of death’…
And to make matter worse, according to an article on Yahoo! News, gaming peripherals like the guitar controller and dancing mats (for Dance Dance Revolution) is putting a difficult strain on your relationship…
A quote from the news article:
Although video game playing has strained relationships since the 1970s, a new generation of games that require fancy and hard-to-hide controllers just make it worse.
Carrie Sloan, editor-in-chief of Tango, a magazine about relationships, says game accessories are the post-modern equivalent for women of the perennial complaint made by men.
“The number one thing that men complain about is her shoe collection,” Sloan says.
This must be the most absurd news I’ve ever heard of. If you believe your accessories is the cause of the fiction between your partner, then its more than likely the problem lies with your relationship with her…
