
Following on the news that Devil May Cry 4 and the latest Ace Combat losing its ‘exclusivity’ with the PlayStation 3, it appears that Square Enix’s epic role-playing game, Final Fantasy XIII, might follow the same route by going multiplatform.
Sony Computer Entertainment France president Georges Fornay spoke about this in an interview with French-language newspaper Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace. He said: “The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games… As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion.”
If this proves to be true, then this could be another significant step towards the end of exclusivity linked to one video game system. In the end, gaming publishers are more interested in making more money by branching out the same product on different platforms.
