Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution has set the trend for rhythm-based music games. By using your two feet, you ‘dance’ to the exciting beats of Japanese pop and techno. The popular game has appeared on many home consoles, based on the original arcade; with at least six different formats (this includes PlayStation and Xbox). But now, a new DDR is heading towards the Nintendo Wii.
Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party will still use the traditional dance pad, but a new element has been added in – the use of the Wii’s motion sensor controllers.
To play the new DDR, you will need to hold both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller while dancing to the ‘steps’ displayed on-screen.
Two icons will occasionally appear next to the four arrows indicating what to do with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. If you see a small icon, it means you move the controller itself while a larger icon means to shake it.
This new feature will create a new experience to the player in a way that projects an image of that famous movie scene featuring a young John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever!
Konami are still developing this game but promising that this new game play element will be tweaked to offer the best dancing experience.
DDR Hottest Party will also include four-player multiplayer mode with both co-operative and competitive dance.
The developers are considering some initiative ideas such as using your Wii Remote to throw ‘arrows’ at your main competitor during a dance battle. In a similar concept, Konami are trying to find ways to co-ordinate movements not just on the dance pad but also between the remote and Nunchuk, as well.
