American computer giant Apple, which launched its online video download service 15 months ago in the US, will finally bring television content to European iTunes users, according to Luxembourg’s economics minister.
“Apple is going to extend its electronic retail activities in Luxembourg by launching this coming spring its iTunes video platform for the sale of videos in Europe,” Jeannot Krecke told Agence France Presse. “It will provide full-length television series in various European countries.”
If this statement proves accurate, then it will coincide with the first deliveries of Apple TV, which enables the wireless or wired streaming of video content, music and photos from iTunes to a widescreen TV or home cinema system.
iTunes videos can also be watched within the software itself or transferred to a video-enabled iPod and, later this year, an iPhone.
