Is Sony determined to alienate all potential buyers with no price reduction for its next generation console?
The PlayStation 3 is already the most expensive video game machine on the market and with the news that the gaming division suffered a significant lost in a recent quarterly financial result (due to poor sales with the PSP and PS3), you would expect a price cut to boost sales but that’s not the case.
According to a chief financial officer, Nobuyuki Oneda, the possibility of the PlayStation 3 on sale at a lower price won’t happen for at least “two to three years.”

That Sony guy makes a good point about VAT in Ireland, I do sometimes wonder why the government has to be different from the rest of Europe by charging a 21% VAT. That’s more than a Fifth of the original price that has to be added onto the bloody thing. €630 is a bit too much for me any day, if I deem it needed to get a PS3 I’ll be importing it from France…
