The new digital media hub for streaming video content from the Mac or PC has a new name – Apple TV.
The newly named device supports 802.11 b/g and 802.11n, with USB 2.0, Ethernet, HDMI, Wi-Fi and component video. As for the Hard Drive, the Apple TV has a 40-gigabyte capacity.
Even though the picture resolution is 720p, it can playback all H.264 video files in a nice smooth frame rate.
The best part of Apple TV is the ability to link up five computers simultaneous, streaming movies, television shows and photos to each machine.
Apple TV goes on sale immediately on the Apple site for $299 or £199.

Part of me wishes I was an apple bod another part is glad I’m not. This is a neat gadget and obviously needed in the market. Although I guess peeps with high end tv’s need the 1080p
Although would like one with a much bigger HD, I plan on making all my dvd’s into small xvid files so one can browse a library to watch what they want. Rather than having lots of dvd disks.

I personally think both iTV and Apple TV are bad names for this product. And as for the Hard Drive, it would be better to have more for storing movies and photographs.
Despite that, this new product means Apple are thinking away from making computers or music players. The ability to watch and share digital content via Apple TV is great. And for that price (£199 or $299), it’s not too bad for value.
