Apple’s new iPhone – with touch screen interface and Mac OS X installed

Apple iPhone

After years of speculation, Apple has finally revealed the highly desirable iPhone. The iPhone combines three products as one – a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls and an Internet-ready communication device based on Mac OS X.

The new product features a unique interface, in which the user accesses the different functions by moving just the fingers. The iPhone is all controlled by touch.

It looks beautiful and even though it seems big in the palm of your hand (61 millimetre by 115 millimetre), the iPhone is surprisingly thin (11.6 millimetre) so it could be quite comfortable to hold and use. As for the display, the device features a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touch screen display with multi-touch support.

So what kind of features does this new Apple mobile device have? The iPhone has a two mega pixel camera, four or eight gigabyte of storage, Bluetooth with EDR and A2DP, Wi-Fi that automatically engages when in range, and quad band GSM radio with EDGE. It runs the Macintosh operating system (Mac OS X) with Widgets, Google Maps and Safari (web browser), and iTunes (naturally) with CoverFlow.

A partnership with Yahoo will allow all iPhone customers to link up with a free push IMAP email. What about battery life? According to Apple, it lasts around five hours in talk and video mode, while playing back music, sixteen hours.

Two models will be available with the four-gigabyte iPhone available in America as a Cingular exclusive for $499 on a two-year contract. The eight-gigabyte version costs more - $599. These will go on sale in June in the States first with Europe and the rest of the world sometime at the end of the year.

Man talk about drool that it is one hot phone. Imagine pulling that thing out when you get a call. Can just imagine all the posting that is gonna happen with this phone not only that. Around your own house you could stream tv series or any movies which are stored on your comp. Thats hot!
And the touch screen ub3r intuitive way. Love the palms for their touch screens. The baby has quad band too means you can take it with you anywhere in the world.

Feels a bit tight to release this news then say ok wait till Dec 2007. Damn desirable or what.

This new Apple product looks fantastic. I love the way Safari view web pages. Just press on the screen to zoom in or rotate the iPhone to view it in a landscape position.

Hopefully the next ‘true’ video iPod will use the similar touch screen interface without the phone or Internet option. Widescreen video iPod with 120 gigabytes of memory? Yes please!
