After Capeta hurt his ribs in the warm up, Nobu tries to figure out how to create the best conditions for the race win. Struggling to find a solution all Nobu could do is to strap padding on the seat to ease the pressure exerted, even Monami is coming up with ideas to give Capeta an edge but its not enough. With everything riding on this last race Capeta bravely races once more only to find that the traction has degraded badly due to the instability of the go-kart’s frame, drifting into every corner wasting valuable seconds. With the lack of traction, instability of the frame plus the G-Forces put on Capeta’s bruised ribs he continues to fall behind the pack to the rear of the grid and even gets blue flagged. A blue flag in racing means that the driver in question must give way to the faster drivers behind him within a set number of blue flags. If he does not let the driver through he will get black flagged - Disqualified from the race.
Under the pressure Capita spins off the track and retires from the qualifying round, his first ever retirement in five years. Things don’t bode well for the race in the next day, could this be the end of Capeta’s racing career?
Generally speaking this wasn’t a riveting episode, a lot of the time was spent on the dialogue between the drivers and why they want to race. Almost everything revolves around Capeta in some way even if he doesn’t realise it himself. This episode was more like a prelude of what’s to come as Team Capeta needs to overcome all the barriers put in front of them such as lack of money, a damaged frame an an injured driver. A retirement wasn’t surprising because it would have done more damage than good to keep on racing in such conditions but what happens next counts in the race.
