Sony Japan has stated that the PlayStation 3 version of ‘The Real Driving Simulator’ – Gran Turismo HD – will now be a free download, rather than a stand-alone game.
The game now renamed as Gran Turismo HD Concept will be available on the PlayStation Store on December 24th. How come? The reason being many key developments has been incorporated into Gran Turismo 5 (the proper version).
When pressed on the issue regarding GT HD and GT5 series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said this: “Gran Turismo HD is the bridge to GT5, there would be no GT5 without this game.”
In an online statement (link can be seen here), Yamauchi says that he and his Polyphony team have decided to concentrate fully on Gran Turismo 5 and adds that there will be more concept versions hitting the PlayStation Store before GT 5 is released. The release date for that highly anticipated racing game hasn’t yet been announced.
