The creators of the cult-hit thriller 24 are set to take the ‘real-time’ format into the world of the hospital.
The new medical drama, entitled The Call, will be unlike the serial format of 24. Each episodes will be stand along with it’s own separate storylines.
The Hollywood Reporter quoted writer Dave Hemingson as saying it will swing from intense to character driven comedy in the vein of the 1970s series M*A*S*H.
American broadcaster ABC has taken on the idea, from 24 creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran.
Hemsingon, who wrote 20th Century Fox TV’s Kitchen Confidential, was brought in to help develop the show.
“We will be toggling between tones and will hopefully create something that is compelling and humorous,” Hemingson said.
There have so far been five series of 24, each of which charts an action packed day in the life of CTU Agent Jack Bauer, played by the Emmy Award winning actor Kiefer Sutherland.
