New James Bond star Daniel Craig has branded the upcoming 007 movie Casino Royale the most violent yet.
Craig plays the super spy for the first time and was amazed at the excruciating pain he had to experience in some parts of the stunts. He says, “You’re not doing it right if you’re not getting hurt. The stunt boys were going through pain levels that I couldn’t even imagine and carrying on. Compressed spines, all sorts of things. I was in pain throughout the whole movie.”
He recalls one particularly harrowing scene in which Bond kills a man in the bathroom: “I watch that sequence and I wince. All my knuckles split; my hands were in bandages after it. And I had a fight double - Ben. I did the bits that hurt. And he did the bits that really f**king hurt. But that’s the thing with this Bond. He bleeds. It’s more about the fact that he bleeds, goes down and gets up again.”
It is nice to see Bond showing his dark side, revealing a gritty edge towards a familiar character we known to love.
In addition, early reviews for the new Casino Royale seem positive, with several British newspapers claiming that Daniel Craig is on par with the legendary Sean Connery – the original actor who portrayed the spy.
The Daily Telegraph wrote that Daniel Crag “steps with full assuredness into Sean Connery’s old handmade shoes”.
In the new film, Bond makes a break from the super-slick, stereotyped spy of the past, the newspaper critics said - but all declared the end result a triumph.
“It’s Bond, but not as we’ve known it,” according to the Telegraph.
“The guns and action are there… the girls are certainly there… but the clonking double entendres of the old days are gone - in their place is a much more teasing, smartly written prospect.”
The Times declared: “Craig is up there with the best - he combines Sean Connery’s athleticism and cocksure swagger with Timothy Dalton’s thrilling undercurrent of stone-cold cruelty.”
Craig’s impressive physique makes him “a far more plausible Bond than many of his predecessors”, it added. “But his main asset quickly becomes evident. He can act.”
Casino Royale reaches cinemas on November 17th.

Personally i think it’s not surprising that it’s bloody considering the content of the original Casino Royale novel, also I must say the above picture has me thinking that Craig will work as the Dark Bond of Flemming’s works.
