Wii’s Virtual Console line-up

Wii abstract

With the Wii only a few short weeks away from the official launch in Japan and America (Europeans will get their hands on the Wii in the first week of December), Nintendo have announced that thirty-one Virtual Console games will be available to download onto the console. The games are available from the Wii’s Shop channel and include ‘classic’ games from Nintendo and Sega.

Games are bought with Wii points – Microsoft’s Xbox Live owners will be familiar with this concept - with NES games costing 500 Wii Points ($5), Super NES 800 Wii Points ($8) and N64 games 1000 Wii Points, ($10). The Sega Mega Drive items will be available for 800 Wii points while PC Engine games will be available for 600 Wii points ($6).

You can purchase a set of 2,000 Wii points via online at a price of $20.

Interestingly, there is no news whether these ‘retro’ games have been updated or offer anything new.

Here is the full list of Virtual Console games on the Nintendo Wii. Not many from the Super Nintendo and N64 so far.

    Hi All Experts,I need help…
    1. what kind of cables does the Wii come with?
    2. Is there a VGA-adapter coming out anytime soon?
    3. If i use the s-video cable, will the remote still sense the screen on which my projector projects the image onto?
    Cheers and thanks in advance.

Hi Keith ^_^ Welcome to eMagi, hope you’ve found the information useful to you. Here are your answers…

    1. The Wii comes with the Composite cables on default (Yellow, Red and White phonos)

    2. There is a D-Terminal cable but that is specific to Japan. As of now there isn’t an official VGA cable but you can modify a Component Video cable for VGA output. Or you can use a Component -> VGA adapter. I will have a full writeup on this in a couple of days if you are interested as I have helped out a friend who wants to use his Wii on a monitor.

    3. You can use any cable as the Wiimote gathers its data by itself and with the Sensor bar in certain games, which in turn gets sent to the console. Using a projector won’t affect the controls at all, however I would suggest using Component Video cables over S-Video for a much better image.

    Hope that helps ^_^
