Game On - the video game exhibition

Pac-Man

Passionate about retro video games like Space Invaders and Pac-Man?

Ever wonder how the character Mario was created?

How about the opportunity to re-experience the golden age of gaming in a new exhibition opening next month?

If you answered all these with a enthusiast 'yes', then make a date to the London's Science Museum where a special exhibition will be on show.

Displaying more than 120 games -  many with block graphics and wacky sound effects, plus others of a more contemporary nature - visitors will be able to play games dating as far back as the 1960s.

Game On
will also feature classic artwork from Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

Among the games visitors can play the world's first computer game (from 1962), Space War.

Gaetan Lee, programmes developer at the Science Museum, said he was "particularly excited" that visitors would get a chance to see PDP-1, the computer that ran Space War.

"Nowhere else will people be able to see the entire history of the games industry laid out, explained and ready to play," he said.

Game On
runs from 21 October 2006 to 25 February 2007.

Ticket prices: £8.50 adult, £6.50 child/concession.
