Apple’s new Core 2 Duo iMac

Apple iMac

Apple has released a new iMac range that is now powered by Intel's Core 2 Duo chip.

A new size is also available, a massive 24-inch high-resolution screen. I thought it was 23" at first, so I'm quite impressed with an extra inch! The number plays an important significant for me by the way (hint: Jack Bauer)!

I have to admit this was quite unexpected from Steve Jobs and Apple. I was expected some new products like the rumoured iPhone (mobile phone), updates on the iTunes Music Store (downloading feature films) and an upgraded for the popular iPod Nanos during next week Apple show.

But the news of the new Core 2 Duo iMac is fantastic as I've being waiting for this moment for quite a while. I was planning to upgrade my existing PowerBook G4 (the titanium model) to the new Intel Macs, but waited patiently enough for the right opportunity. And now it has paid off!

Anyway, here are the technical specifications on the Macs:

I’ve just placed an order for my new Intel iMac through the Apple Online Store. Should get my 24-inch machine at the end of the month.

My new desktop computer will feature the 2.16ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with 2GB of RAM, 256MB of Video RAM for the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT Graphics Card and a 500GB Hard Drive. This will replace my existing PowerBook G4 laptop.
