If you like the idea of a Metal Gear game on the go, but aren’t too fussy about playing around with cards, then look no further. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (or MPO) is a full on action based chapter in the Metal Gear Solid storyline (no acid in the title), so you’ll be able to sneak, choke, shoot, crawl and blow up bi-pedal battle tanks in real time.
MPO takes place in the 70’s, six years after the last Metal Gear Solid game, Snake Eater. Players will take control of Big Boss (formerly known as Naked Snake) as they foil all sorts of terrorist plans.
One of the key features of MPO is the ‘comrade system’. Playing MPO at different hotspots around the globe will grant you access to different characters to use as comrades in both multiplayer and single player. Different hotspots will give out different characters, so players will have to play in different areas to get the best team possible. If you haven’t got access to a Wi-Fi hotspot there are hundreds of comrades to be found in the game itself, who can be ‘recruited’ by abducting them into Colonel Campbell’s truck.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is set to invade America in December this year. A European release date has not yet been set.
