Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced the expansion of the PlayStation 2 line-up in Europe with the introduction of a new colour - Pink.
The new, limited edition Pink PlayStation 2 will be available throughout Europe from November 8th 2006 and will come complete with two Pink Analog Controller and a Pink Memory Card.
According to Dan Hill, PlayStation 2 brand manager for Europe, “PlayStation 2 is the accessible, affordable way to enjoy new social, communal and interactive entertainment experiences, through software titles like SingStar, Buzz and EyeToy. The Pink PlayStation 2 is funky, fresh, and fashionable, and will further broaden the console’s continuing popularity and relevance with a fun new twist”.
The pink PlayStation 2 will retail at €159.99 or £129.99 with a copy of SingStar Popworld bundled with the unit.
Wow, a great twist with a colour change from Black, Grey, White and Silver. Now it’s Pink… What’s next Green? “For those environmentalist worried about…”
Not only that, Sony are also releasing a special PlayStation Portable and guess what colour this is? Yes, it’s Pink…
The limited edition PSP bundle, released in collaboration with everyone’s favourite perky popstress P!nk, contains the pink PSP, white headphones with remote control, pouch, wrist strap and a 32MB Memory Stick Duo.
Set for release on October 27th in Europe only, the P!nk PSP Value Pack will cost €229, or £169. Anyone picking up the pack will gain access to exclusive P!nk-related downloads, courtesy of Sony’s YourPSP.com service.
Why the link-up with this popstar? Sony’s Stephane Hareau, PSP senior brand manager, explains: “Our collaboration with P!nk will reflect the shared values between the artist, PlayStation and all the young women with freedom, confidence and attitude. The exclusive and exciting P!nk content made available in this Limited Edition will let young women discover the entertainment potential of PSP beyond gaming. PSP is not exclusively for men, there is a PSP for everyone, and whoever you are, PSP can fit into your life.”
So two PlayStations in fashionable Pink… Aimed for the ladies… apparently.
