Taking place two years after Stand Alone Complex Season Two, Major Motoko Kusinagi has left Section 9. With such a void left Kogusa now leads the elite group of specialists that have since vastly expanded its forces. However with such an expansion comes at a price - The morale of the team deterioates as their selected missions become increasingly difficult and the continuous red tape of the demographic countries does not aid matters… All the while a new class of hacker flickers out of the shadow of cyberspace, delivering crimes that only Section 9 can decipher.
What has happened to Motoko after these two years and will Section 9 be able to cope with her loss? With the high level of hacking skill displayed, could it be a former Section 9 member that is the “Puppet Master”?
This movie is shaping up to be intriguing , however if the two seasons of GitS:SAC are anything to go by we are all in for a treat. The music is composed by the ever amazing Yoko Kanno, of which she did an superb job on the previous collaborations with Masamune Shirow’s masterpiece. From the trailer, a haunting yet futuristic melody bellows out creating the perfect mood the animé is shot in and this is only a taster of what’s to come sonically from the highly acclaimed composer.
Directed by Kenji Kamiyama (GitS: SAC S1 & 2, Blood: The Last Vampire, Jin-Roh and more) with a budget of $3.2 USD and animation by Production I.G, Ghost in the Shell fans will be in for some classic action. To be released in Japan on the 1st September on TV, then DVD (again in Japan) on the 24th November, it seems we don’t have to wait too long to see this next installment of an already quality series. I for one cannot wait.
