Coming early next quarter, the Sony Mylo is a brand new communicator and media player packed with great and unsacrificed features while keeping a very sleek and compact form (definitely targeting the younger generation). Of course, this definitely looks to rival T-Mobile’s current popular communication gadget, the T-Mobile Sidekick (also known as the “Hiptop”).
As of now, the Mylo comes in white or black with a 2.4in (6.09cm) LCD color screen, and a 320 x 240 pixel display. And for those of you who are into the media part of this, the Mylo has 1GB of Flash memory for you to store your music and movies, and of course also takes the ever-famous Sony Memory Sticks. You can play your audio files that are WMA, WMA DRM, ATRAC 3, MP3s format, and video files that are MPEG 4. And games! Sony promises that the gadget guarantees about 45 hours of music playback time, 8 hours of movie playback, and 3.5 hours of VoIP.
The communication programs that come with this wonderlovely gadget that definitely accompany its full-fledged slide-out QWERTY keyboard include Google Talk and Yahoo! Messenger. However, no word on AIM or MSN support. For web browsing, the user has Opera web browser preinstalled. E-mail include support for Yahoo mail, and Gmail by Google. Other nifty extras on board include a photo image and text editor.
Probably the best thing, though, is that it also supports Skype! From SkypeIn, SkypeOut, and Skype-to-Skype, you name it, this will probably be one of the features that definitely attracts consumers.
Wow, I want one.
The Sony Mylo ships in September 2006, for US$350 (GBP £185).
