Densha Otoko is about a guy who is a fully fledged otaku (obsessed fan) who gets bullied at work and from his family and society in general due to his love of animé and videogames. However on his way back home from Comiket (a manga market) he falls in love with a beauty on the train and protects her from a drunk (while getting a bloody nose for the effort). After acting the hero the young lady offers to take his address to give a thank you gift to him and the fun starts there…
Its pretty much a “nice guy” drama where Densha relies on a popular Japanese message board for advice (2Chan) on how to woo the young lady. Plenty of comedy ensues as he gets to grip with real life outside of Otakudom to land his first girlfriend. Well worth watching ^_^

Savage Cabbage says:
I strongly recommend this funny and warm show. I watched the entire series in a single sitting which allowed me to go through all the emotions the characters go through. (though I didn’t cry myself) I also like that as the show progresses you get little insights into the lives of the other individuals who are encouraging Yamada-san along. Very sutle. If you have this and have yet to see it, get yourself a good comfy seat and tons of treats and enjoy this beauty and standout example of classic Jdrama!
